Debbie Making a Difference
As the first African American woman elected to serve as Mayor of the Village of Olympia Fields, Debbie Meyers-Martin established a record of leadership focused on economic growth and community investment. During her tenure, she attracted a major retailer to the Village's business corridor, creating more than 300 jobs for the region and generating nearly $1 million in sales tax revenue for a community of approximately 5,000 residents. She also played a key role in Franciscan Health's $116 million expansion in Olympia Fields, helping ensure a major healthcare provider remained in the South Suburban region. Since her election to the Illinois House of Representatives, Debbie has secured millions of dollars in state investments for the Southland, supporting economic development, municipal improvements, education, public safety, violence prevention, stroke awareness, and other initiatives that strengthen communities. Her commitment to collaboration and results-driven leadership continues to improve opportunities and enhance the quality of life for residents throughout the 38th District.
